Candie Cooper Workshop Part 1

By | February 19, 2013

Last weekend the Indiana Bead Society hosted a workshop with Candie Cooper. She is awesome and always inspiring.    We learned a new image transfer technique, made a scrabble tile pendant, and played with embossing metal.   All in all it was a really fun day and I came home with a lot of new parts to incorporate in to future jewelry.

The first pendant of the day:

As you might have guessed by now I like all things birds and bugs. Next up were some shell beads that we added images to.

These have a fun and funky vintage feel to them.   Back to the birds, we made some moody peacock earrings.  I’m going to have to wear these soon.

We also used the image transfer stuff on metal.

I have altered this pendant slightly since the workshop.    It has received a layer of Judikins Diamond Glaze and a few Swarovski flatbacks.    It gives it a little more depth.

Again with the birds…  This one has a little surprise on the back.    I’m not quite sure what to do with the channel yet.

I forgot to pay attention to where the holes lined up, so this may present a problem when using it, but I’m sure I will figure something out.

We also tried the image transfer on leather.   I like the texture on this one.   My image was a little wimpy for the silver leather underneath, but I can definitely see the potential in this one.

This one is an acrylic bead with the image transfer on the back side.   I have a few bubbles in mine.   It’s has potential, I don’t know that I love it, but it’s an interesting technique.

Everybody and their brother has already made these scrabble tile pendants.   This was my first, and I love it.   I definitely need to order supplies to make more of these.   I made another one for my mother, but I gave it to her before I could take a picture…   I’ll save the embossing projects for tomorrow’s post.
