Thing a Day 2

By | March 4, 2012

The challenge for Friday was to use up some leftover beads.   Here is a picture of the original piece.  It is a necklace I made in a Laura McCabe class last year.   I love it, but it is unwearable in it’s current state.   The chatons are way to pointy and leave big red marks on my chest when I wear it.   I think I need to make some sort of covering for the chatons, but that’s a problem for another day.

There were two baggies of leftover delicas, so I mixed them together and made these.I used the Open Teardrop pattern from Diane Fitzgerald’s Shaped Beadwork book.  One of the pearls was leftover from the original project and I found one that is similar in my stash. It’s hard to tell the color from these photos, but it’s a dark purple metallicish color.  One of the baggies of beads was a blend, so there are a few flecks of gold and silver mixed in with the purple.    I am pleased with how these turned out.   Hopefully my photo set up will be available soon.   Until then, I am stuck taking photos in my studio with whatever light is available.
