Day 3

By | March 4, 2012

Saturday’s challenge was to learn a new beading technique.   This is a bigger challenge than you might think, since I know a lot of stuff.   I looked around to see what I could find.   I decided to interpret this to “try a new way to do something you already know.”   I attempted a brick stitch bezel.   It did not go well.    I don’t know if I my cab was too big, or the instructions were just bad.   In any case, I do not have a bezeled cab.    Time for plan B.   I ended up doing a little wire working.    I went to the bead store to see if they had any hammered silver rings, but they were out.   I came home and made a practice piece with some craft wire I had.

I figure they still count towards the challenge since I don’t normally work with wire.  And I had never attempted peyote stitch with wire.   Plus, I almost never make fraternal earrings. They aren’t perfect, but I like them, and think the technique is definitely worth exploring with some sterling wire at some point.

Sunday’s challenge does not coincide with actually making something.   The challenge for the day is to organize your bead area.    My bead area is a bit of a mess, but the real problem at the moment is the pile of finished jewelry, so that is going to be my project for the day.   Little Miss Fuzzybritches keeps trying to mess with my stuff, and if I don’t get it cleaned up, she is going to break something.
