Days 20 and 21 Plus a Reminder
By francie | March 28, 2012
A quick reminder to let you know I am teaching my Dress Up Your Donut class tomorrow at 1. It’s a great beginner-intermediate class. If you have always wanted to learn tubular herringbone, here’s a good chance. Come join us at Bead Angels. I am also teaching Saturday for the Indiana Bead Society‘s Spring Workshop. That should be a fun day. I am busy making up kits and working on instructions. I have a lot of work left to do in that department, and I am still waiting on some last minute supplies to appear.
Here are the Jenny earrings I couldn’t post yesterday. I love the color. These are made from size 8 hexes. I think I like the ones from the 3mm cubes better, but those little cubes are hard to find. I mistakenly ordered a bunch of 4mm cubes. I think they will work, but the earrings will just be a bit bigger.
Right now my little furry beading buddy is draped over my left hand with her feet on my keyboard, so please excuse any extra letters that might appear.

It reminds me of a bird’s nest. The little pentagon basket was a leftover piece from a project a few years ago. It’s fun to go through those little boxes of bits and bobs and figure out how to repurpose them. The strap is peyote stitch made with those super tiny 1.3mm cubes.
The challenge for day 20, make a piece of jewelry inspired by spring. Since I was on vacation, I cheated a bit and used a kit. I love those Laliberi kits. I don’t use a lot of filigree in my usual designs, so it is fun to play with it and learn new techniques for adding color and flair to an otherwise boring metal finding. This bracelet worked up quickly and is quite cute. I haven’t worn it yet. It came out a smidgeon short, so I think I will have to add a couple of jump rings to the clasp. I think my wire work that joins the filigree pieces is a bit too tight. I am counting this piece as a double duty one since it is springy and made of mixed metals. I did finish off a couple pairs of earrings too.
These are made from Tila beads and size 8 seed beads. I think they are pretty classy. I love beads with the Vitrial finish. They are so sparkly and fun. I like their shiny pink backs as much as the luminous front sides.
